Today is the tenth anniversary of the dad and my first date.
As I mentioned earlier, we were set up on a blind date. After our initial phone conversation, I thought he seemed a bit braggy, and was trying to make me think he was smart. I was pretty sure I would have to make him see that I too was smart. My sister mentioned to her then boyfriend (now husband) that I was going on a blind date with a guy named A. He said "hey my friend D's roommate is named A, wouldn't it be funny if it was the same guy, is his phone number 612-xxx-xxxx?" And it was! They knew each other. My sister talked to him and said he seemed liked a nice guy.
The day of the scheduled first date, he called while I was working at my second job, and told my sister he had to reschedule because he forgot he had tickets to the opera with a friend. The opera, I asked, what was playing? La Traviata (which I later checked was indeed playing) My sister said he seemed really sincere, but I was still dubious. We agreed to meet the next evening for dinner instead. I stayed home and watched A Room with a View, which is delicious.
We met for dinner. I ordered wine and coffee, because I like wine, but it was freezing outside. We talked the entire time and the waitress remarked that things must be going well, because we had hardly touched our food. When we were leaving, he asked me if I had had a nice time. I said "yes, but I wasn't planning on it." We got engaged seven months later.
This story makes me smile, and that's a lovely memento.

Georgio's is the first restaurant my husband and I ate at in Minneapolis. We were visiting for a weekend to find an apartment. It must have been about 12 years ago or so -Georgio's was the new hot restaurant then.
