Oh so pretty

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to actually finish the decorating in one room of our house.  Most projects sit in my head for a very long time until I have the right inspiration and time to get them done.  So it seems like everything is happening all at once, but really it has been looooong in coming.  We have a little side window in our office, which is really supposed to be the formal living room of the house, but we have no use for that.  It is ugly, but it lets in nice sunlight all morning long.  It has been bare for the entire time we've lived here.  I finally had someone make a roman shade:

 

to match the front curtains that my mother-in-law and I made:

 

The extra roll of fabric sat in the corner for so long, I stopped noticing it, but now that it's done, I feel so grownup.  My sister, whose every decorating decision is simple and classy has roman shades in her house.  My decorating decisions are usually pretty cluttery and mis-matched.  I told her I might have to invite Ki and Sue over to sew on some rusty keys.

Big kids crafts

Valentine's Day party crafts for the big ones class.  As usual, I am behind on planning and shopping.  Also, as usual, most of the current holiday craft supplies are long gone.  There have to be other folks who go to the store on February 13th right?  No stickers, no hearts, and at Target, the entire candy section has turned over to Easter.  The card aisle at Target, though, was very busy!

This heart idea is from the current Martha Stewart Kids craft magazine, although I see that she did a Valentine's Day version once too.  And some other people have taken it to a whole classier level.  I used a VERY large bag of suckers, some of the hundreds of sheets of scrapbook I have around here, glue dots, green paper napkins and then stuck them into little clay pots filled with oasis.

It hasn't been given the official okay by the big one, but I have my fingers crossed.

Come see me this weekend at the Handmaiden's Make-out Goods show, coordinated by the girls from i like you.  I had so much fun at their winter sale, and all the cool kids were really nice to me!

February 4

On the highway near our house is one of those digital billboards that read today "February 14 - only 10 more days to get it right".  Lordy.  I am behind on yet another holiday of house decorations. 

I did buy some flowers today.  Last year I tried to force these pink blossoms (not forsythia?) but failed, so this year I got a head start.
